Where can I go hiking?
Santa Lucia Falls - You can book a tour at Santa Lucia Falls which has a few miles of trails that they you on to see several big falls, but it is on private property so you have to book the tour. santaluciafalls.com/
Nauyaca Falls - Hike to Nauyaca falls by buying an entry ticket on the road to San Isidro (Rt 243). You can hike several miles to the falls. Some of it is a road used by 4x4 to haul guests who don't want to walk. Nauyaca can be "self guided" where you just buy entry and walk yourself. Or you can do a "tour" that includes horseback or ride in a truck and maybe lunch or something. You can get to Nauyaca by also taking the road up through San Josecito to Don Emilios, then turn left and follow mountain road past the San Luis waterfall (has its own short hiking trail) then all the way across to San Salvador. Another hiking option is to just park at Don Emilios pulperia-y-cafe-don-emilio.negocio.site/ and then go hiking from there on the roads. If you go west you can hike about 3kw to the San Luis waterfall. This is just hiking on roads, so it's not as nice as a true hiking trail.
Bamboo Forest - You can also drive through the bamboo forest out the back of Uvita, turn right at the first fork and then park by the new Uvita Arts Center. https://g.page/uvitartscenter?share. You have to get your shoes wet to cross the river (or take them off) but after the river you can hike for miles and miles up the small road that goes on all the way up the ridge.
Diamante Waterfall and Cave -In the mountains behind Dominical is another amazing waterfall, and this one also has a cave. You have to be up for a moderate to difficult hike to get there and it’s only possible to visit with a guide. Once you arrive, you will be well rewarded with a twin waterfall and cave as its backdrop. For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, we recommend doing the overnight at the cave. The tour company will cook your meals there and provide bedding and bug nets to make for a comfortable sleep. Day hikes are $70-90 per person adults. Overnights are $129-159 per person adults. Discounted rates available for kids. Contact Karol our tour concierge for a discount, firstname.lastname@example.org
